The Spring Summer 2022 collection

IN MY GARDEN

A luminous, subtly coloured ambience with vegetation, wild grasses, landscapes saturated with greenery, lush and refreshing to quench our thirst for nature. A finely watercoloured floral print and birds of paradise, shades of green, touches of blue-green, hints of mauve and lots of white for light. The materials blend softness with organic cotton sateen, washed linen, printed linen cushions, embroidered table linen and linen chambrays in subtle tones (sauge, yuzu and lilas).

LAND OF ENLIGHTENMENT

An atmosphere like a French “Wabi-sabi”, rustic, simple, generous, with historical references to the 18th century, in a range of neutral tones around beiges and ochres – precious earths and warm pigments – for motifs revisiting the decorative arts of the Enlightenment. Focussing on quite natural looks, with soft and fluffy materials that play tricks on the eye, organic satin with matte prints, washed linen and “tumbled” chambrays in subtle tones, and not forgetting summer percale with a soft, matte feel that goes well with linen.

STORY

Alexandre Turpault created his company in Cholet, at the heart of a region with a long textile producing tradition, in 1847. He combined the weaving of linen and linen-cotton with a manufacturing workshop, and became renowned for his expertise, the quality of his weaving and the whiteness of his linen.

For many years, Alexandre Turpault was one of the major players in the luxury market. He won awards in 1878 and 1889 at the Exposition Universelle in Paris, receiving a silver medal and a gold medal for the quality of his textiles. At the beginning of the 1930s, he supplied table linen for the famous steamship the ‘Normandie’, with splendid damask tablecloths.

Initially specialising in handkerchiefs (such as the famous handkerchiefs from Cholet) and tea towels, Alexandre Turpault diversified its range of products with the introduction of bed linen and table linen.

In 1999, the company was taken over by the Vanderschooten Group, the third largest French manufacturer of household linen, located in Nieppe in northern France.

Today, Alexandre Turpault is a top-of-the-range household linen brand renowned throughout the world.
